Food Bank
Food bank volunteer sign-up for sort, pack, and serve
Morning sort and afternoon line are different jobs. Put each window on the sheet so the same two people are not there until close.
Free. No credit card. Volunteers sign up without making an account.
What to put on the sheet
- The pantry address and which door to use. Loading docks confuse first-timers.
- Morning and afternoon as separate slots. People can do two hours. Fewer can do six.
- Named jobs: sort, pack, serve, clean. "Help out" fills with whoever arrived first.
- What to wear (closed shoes, no open-toed sandals in a stockroom).
- Age minimums if the site has them. Put that in the description, not a side text.
- Who to tell if they cannot come. Every reminder email has a one-tap cancel link, and the event page lets you cancel after you sign up.
Example slots
Sorting, morning
4 spots. Check dates, box like with like, keep the floor clear.
Sorting, afternoon
4 spots. Same job, later window, for people who work mornings.
Meal prep
4 spots. If you cook on site. Skip this slot for a pantry-only day.
Distribution, morning
4 spots. The line, the bags, the door.
Distribution, afternoon
4 spots. Second window so the same two people are not there all day.
Cleanup and restock
4 spots. Flatten boxes, wipe tables, set the room for the next shift.
Food bank FAQ
How do I schedule food bank volunteer shifts?
Start from this template, set the date and the two windows, and share the link with your church, school, or neighborhood group. People pick a job and type a name and email. On Pro, you can describe the day instead ("Saturday pantry, morning and afternoon sort and distribution") and Create With AI drafts the slots for you.
Should I use this or the donation drive template?
Use this when people are giving time: sort, pack, serve, clean. Use the donation drive when people are bringing items (cans, boxes, gift cards) and you need a quantity on each line. A holiday basket drive that needs both can start from the Thanksgiving food drive sheet.
How long should a food bank shift be?
Two to three hours. Four hours without a break leaves the afternoon line quiet and the morning crew gone. Split morning and afternoon so people can pick one.
Do volunteers need an account?
No. They open the link, pick a shift, and type a name and email. No password and no app.
Is the food bank sign-up free?
Yes. The free plan holds up to 100 signups per event, and this template uses 24 spots. A bigger day needs Pro ($99/year) for unlimited signups. Confirmed signups get an email 24 hours before the event starts and again an hour before, and the page they open has no ads.
