How the schedule works
- Work backward from dinner. This template plans for 3:00 PM; change the slot names if you eat earlier or later.
- Each slot is a block of oven or stovetop time. Room for 2 on an oven slot means two racks.
- Pies go first, then the turkey gets the oven to itself for four hours and comes out 90 minutes before dinner.
- Stuffing and casseroles go in while the turkey rests, and rolls go in last.
- Ask cooks to put the dish, temperature, and pan size in their signup note.
Example slots
Oven 7:30 to 9:30 AM: pies
Room for 2. Pies bake first, before the turkey needs the oven.
Oven 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM: turkey
Room for 1. Four hours at 325 degrees fits a 12 to 14 pound unstuffed bird (USDA lists 3 to 3.75 hours). Check for 165 degrees with a thermometer.
Oven 1:30 to 2:15 PM: stuffing and casseroles
Room for 2. The turkey comes out, rests 20 minutes, and gets carved while these go in.
Oven 2:15 to 2:45 PM: rolls and reheats
Room for 3. Rolls, and anything that came from home already cooked.
Stovetop 1:00 to 2:00 PM: potatoes
Room for 2. Two burners for mashed and sweet potatoes.
Stovetop 2:00 to 2:45 PM: gravy and vegetables
Room for 4. Gravy from the drippings, green beans, cranberry sauce.
Oven schedule FAQ
What is a Thanksgiving oven schedule?
A sign-up sheet where each time slot is a block of oven or stovetop time on Thanksgiving day. Whoever needs to bake, roast, or reheat at the host's house claims a slot, so two casseroles never show up at 2 PM both needing the oven.
How long does the turkey need?
The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service roasting chart lists 3 to 3.75 hours at 325 degrees for a 12 to 14 pound unstuffed turkey, cooked to 165 degrees in the innermost part of the thigh and wing and the thickest part of the breast, then a 20 minute rest before carving. Bigger bird? Start earlier and slide the pie slot to the night before.
What if two dishes need different temperatures?
Ask everyone to put the temperature and pan size in their signup note. The note shows next to their name on your list, so you can catch a 425 degree dish in a 350 degree slot and move it. Room for 2 means two racks, not two temperatures.
Can I change the times?
Yes. Edit the slot names to match your dinner time and your kitchen. One oven and four burners is the default; if you have a double oven or a borrowed roaster, add a slot for it.
Can I use this with a potluck sheet?
Yes. Use the Thanksgiving potluck or Friendsgiving sheet for who brings what, and this one for who cooks when. On the free plan, run them one at a time; two live events at once is a Pro feature. You can also add these oven slots to the bottom of your potluck sheet and keep it all in one event.
Is it free?
Yes, with no ads, and your family signs up without an account. This template has room for 14 signups, well inside the free plan's 100 signups per event. Reminders go out 24 hours and 1 hour before each slot starts.

Settle the oven before Thursday
Send the schedule the weekend before Thanksgiving, once the menu is set. Whoever claims a slot gets a reminder the day before, so nobody forgets their casserole is due at 1:30.
