Ads on the free plan

SignUpGenius offers a Basic (free) account. Their support article Is SignUpGenius Free? says anyone can create or join signups at no cost with a Basic account, and that people who receive an invite pay no fee to take part (as of October 28, 2026).

Their article Why SignUpGenius Has Ads and How to Remove Them says ads may be visible to people signing up through a free-account signup. It also says ads don't limit slots, block responses, or change how reminders are sent, and that ads come back if you return to a free account (as of October 28, 2026).

SignUpGenius explains that ads pay for hosting, automatic reminders and confirmations, and keeping the platform secure on free accounts. The free plan works fully; the ads are a display element on that tier.

How paid plans remove ads

Paid plans remove ads from the organizer view and from the signups you manage. Depending on the plan, that covers one signup up to unlimited (ads article, as of October 28, 2026).

On the SignUpGenius pricing page (as of October 28, 2026):

Paid plans start with Silver at $8.99 per month billed annually ($107.89 per year), or $11.99 per month month to month.
Silver includes 1 advertising-free signup, plus premium themes, more emails and texts each month, and custom questions.
Gold and Platinum cover more advertising-free signups (Platinum is unlimited) and add extra administrators, more custom questions, and waitlists. Their pricing table has the details.

Only the account holder can upgrade and remove ads, according to the ads article. There are two ways to do it: go to Billing and choose Assign No Ads, or open the signup's Settings and check "Remove ads on this sign up" under Preferences. Either way, you choose which signup the no-ads license covers.

Payment collection fees

You can collect money on SignUpGenius's free plan as well as its paid plans, with no monthly fee for it. Their fees help article lists a per-transaction fee of 3.95% + $0.95 for credit cards and digital wallets, and 1.95% (minimum $1.00) for eCheck. By default that fee is passed to the person paying, and organizers can choose to cover all or part of it. Standard withdrawals to your bank are free; instant transfers cost extra. That fee applies only to money collected through SignUpGenius, and it's separate from any monthly or annual subscription. Signing up itself is free for guests, per their free-plan article (as of October 28, 2026).

How SignUpSpark handles ads and payments
